How Shuppy works

Shuppy is a wish list that keeps the surprise. You say what you’d love, share one link, and the people who care about you give with confidence — no duplicates, no guesswork, and no spoilers for you. Here’s the whole thing in four steps.

1. Make your list

Add anything you’d genuinely love. Products from any shop on the internet — just paste the link. But also experiences, homemade things, contributions towards something bigger, charity donations in your name, and gifts of time: an afternoon of help, a proper catch-up, your dad’s famous curry taught in person.

Mark what you’d love most, what you’d like, and what’s just an idea — so people can judge how strongly you feel without asking.

2. Share one link

Send your list by WhatsApp, text, or email — whatever your family actually uses. The people you send it to don’t need to download anything or create an account. They open the link, they see your list. That’s it.

3. They reserve. Who’s giving stays secret

When someone chooses a gift, it’s marked as taken — so nobody else buys the same thing, and you can see when your list needs topping up with fresh ideas. What you won’t see is who: names, contributions and any messages stay sealed until the day of the occasion, like cards on the mantelpiece.

Givers can change their mind, too, every reservation comes with a release link, and the gift simply reopens on the list for someone else.

4. The big day arrives

Gifts are opened, and any messages your givers wrote along the way are revealed to you, along with who gave what — handy for the thank you messages! Group contributions people have chipped into are settled directly with you, however suits everyone.

A few honest answers

Do my friends and family need the app? No. Guests never need an account — the link is enough. Only the list owner signs up.

Is my list public? Only people with your link can see it, and list pages are hidden from search engines. You choose who gets the link.

What does it cost? Shuppy is free to use. Our gift guides carry affiliate links that help keep it that way — see our affiliate disclosure.

Isn’t asking for gifts a bit… awkward? The opposite, in our experience. People want to give something you’ll love — a list is a kindness to them. And on Shuppy, “an hour of your time” is as valid a wish as anything with a price tag.
